


For the ‘Outposts’ section of Konfekt Magazine, I snacked my way through the culinary offerings of the Innsbruck region. From the small bistro ‘Le Murge’ in Innsbruck to the gourmet restaurant ‘Schwarzer Adler’ in Hall and the historic ‘Unterwirt’ in Ebbs. The Unterwirt had a bed and a meal for travellers since 1490 – and for much of that time it has been operated by the same family. Their offerings include dishes such as pickled cucumber with mustard seeds and buttermilk ricotta. Guests can cosy up by the fireplace in the back with a plate of their celebrated Kaiserschmarrn, an Austrian dessert of puffy pancake pieces spiked with rum and raisins, dusted with sugar and dipped in apple sauce.
